Phromthep
Cape
Phromthep Cape is the
southern-most point of Phuket Island. This is a
very popular place for tourists to see the
spectacular view of the Andaman Sea and the
sunsets. It is about 2-kilometer-right turn from
Rawai beach at the south west tip of Phuket
island. The natives call it ' laem Chao ' (
Cape of the god ). From the sharp cliff,
there is a downward path with high palm trees on
both sides. This path is heading to the sea.
This cape overlooks the panoramic view of Phuket'
spectabular sunsets and Kaew Pitsadaan island.
The sea there is very dark green. There is a
road to Nai Haan Beach on its right. |

Phuket City and old buildings
Most of the buildings in Phuket were built
nearly a century in the newly developed tin
mining. They were influenced from the mixture of
The Chinese architecture and of the western one.
This mixed architecture has been called ' The
Sino- Portuguese style ' These building are long
, deep but not wide nortall. They present the
fretwork of the wooden windows. Many lovely
homes in this style are in around Phuket Town.
Moreover, some ancient buildings showing
European Architecture can be seen at Phuket Town
Hall, Phuket court and the Saim City Bank in
Phuket. |

Bang Tao bay
Bang Tao bay (Ao Bang Thao) on Phuket’s
northwest coast is a popular tourist destination
on an 8km stretch of white sandy beach. The
greater Bangtao area still maintains a mixed
local village atmosphere of Buddhist, Chinese,
and Moslem residents milling about daily
markets. The beach area also retains a local
flavour with simple Thai food stalls and vendors
set among cosy guesthouses of Bang Tao. |

Karon Beach
The second largest of Phuket’s principal tourist
beaches. Large resort complexes line the road
back of the beach, but the strand itself, long
and broad, has no development. The sand is very
white, and squeaks audibly when walked on.The
southern point has a fine coral reef stretching
toward Kata and Poo Island. Karon is the most
up-scale of Phuket’s beaches. Regular daytime
bus service to and from Phuket Town. |

The Viewpoint
From this point can be seen the bays Kata Noi,
Kata, Karon, and also Koh Poo Island. It is one
of the island's best views. A large public sala,
or shelter is there for visitors, and several
vendors sell food, drinks, and souvenirs in the
area when the weather is nice. The Viewpoint is
between Kata and Nai Harn.
